Canadian Online Poker: Canada Fights Back Against Full Tilt Poker, Canadian-poker Reports
| 17 September 2011 |
MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Canadian Online Poker (http://www.canadian-poker.ca) reports that Full Tilt Poker is looking at another lawsuit, this time brought by online poker players based in Canada. Launched by the Montreal-based Consumer Law Group, this lawsuit aims to force Full Tilt to return an estimated $10 million to Canadian players who have been unable to access the money they deposited with the online poker room since June 29 when the site lost its license to legally operate. The lawsuit applies to any former Full Tilt Poker player residing in Canada or Quebec whose money is being held.
Its about time former Full Tilt players here in Canada got fed up with this scandalous behaviour, Canadian-poker.ca spokesman Leon Daniels stated. While many of our readers have moved on to more reliable online poker rooms, some have held out hope that Full Tilt would do the right thing, as PokerStars has done, and treat their players with the respect they deserve. Unfortunately, that isnt going to happen unless Canadians fight back in court.
888 Poker has proven to be the new online poker home of the majority of our readers who learned the hard way to only place their trust in sites with strong, publically traded companies like 888 Holdings standing behind them, Leon confirmed. 888 Poker, feeling the love of Canadian poker fans, is investing heavily in Canada, and just announced the opening of a Poker Club near Montreal, which players can be accepted to by opening an account with 888 Poker. Party Poker is the other popular destination for our readers looking for a more stable site backed by a publically traded company, said Daniels. I cant emphasise enough how imperative it is to choose an online poker room carefully. We Canadians arent inclined to pursue legal action when things dont go our way, but Full Tilt needs to be reminded what online poker operators owe their players. Companies like 888 Poker have never lost sight of this underlying principle that makes the online poker community in Canada so strong, and theyre rewarded by a resilient following of loyal players.
