In an aggressive drive to win back American customers, Casino Windsor will become Caesars Windsor, adopting the most recognized brand in gambling and becoming the first Caesars casino outside the United States.

Harrah's Entertainment, which operates Casino Windsor with Hilton Hotels as well as Caesars casinos throughout the United States, announced Friday that Casino Windsor will become part of the Caesars brand in early 2008 when the $400-million renovation and expansion is finished.

The change will bring a new name for Casino Windsor, a new, distinctive and more elegant look and the introduction next year of the Total Rewards player loyalty program, described as the best promotion in the business, said Harrah's chief operating officer Tim Wilmott.

"We're very excited about introducing Caesars for the first time outside the U.S. in Windsor," he said. "We think this market has tremendous potential, and we think the growth here with the introduction of Caesars will be very valuable to us as a company."

Duncan Brown, chief executive officer of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, which manages gambling in Ontario, called the establishment of Caesars at Casino Windsor "one of the most powerful things we could have done for this property. We have really stepped up our competitive position in this marketplace. We're going to get exposure we never had. We're tapping into markets that weren't easily available to us before."
