A tentative deal reportedly has been reached in the 40-day-old Casino Windsor strike.

Casino Windsor and Canadian Auto Workers representatives had what one union official called "constructive talks" in a bid to end the bitter strike Tuesday.

The two sides met Tuesday for "exploratory" discussions to find a way toward ending the 40-day-old strike at the casino, which draws many of its visitors from metro Detroit.

Tuesday's meeting was set up by a mediator appointed by the Ontario Ministry of Labour to try and break the impasse between management and more than 3,000 Local 444 members employed at the casino.

It was the first time the two sides had met since workers surprised union leaders April 30 by rejecting a recommended contract proposal.

Casino Windsor and downtown Detroit's three casinos have combined annual revenues of $1.5 billion.
