Dover Downs Gets Set for Live Table Games
| 11 June 2010 |
Dover, DE, June 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Preparations are continuing at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino for the expected opening of live table game operations near the end of June. Craps, Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat, 3-Card Poker and Pai Gow Poker are among the games to be offered.
A truckload of 40 new gaming tables were delivered on May 24 and placed in a centralized area of the main casino. “Construction, staffing and training have remained on schedule,” said Pete Bradley, vice president and general manager of Casino Operations. “We are hopeful that the practice/test days required by the Delaware Lottery will go well, allowing us to go live with 24-hour table game play by Friday, June 25.” Finish work continues as does the development of an extensive series of checks and balances necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Staffing efforts to fill approximately 350 positions are progressing on schedule, with approximately 80-85 percent of candidates currently identified. Two hundred dealer positions are being filled with the vast majority of newly trained dealers coming from Delaware. Floor supervisors, managers, pit managers, security and surveillance personnel, and administrative staff comprise the remaining new hires.
“Our new dealers have received extensive training by industry experts,” said Bradley. “Being well educated in traditional game rules and fundamentals is paramount. Another key characteristic of a superior dealer includes being friendly, polite and helpful to every guest, no matter what skill set a player brings to a table. Developing the friendliest dealers with a focus on excellence in customer service will, we believe, differentiate us from our competition.”
The Crown Royal® Poker Room on the third floor is expected to open in mid July. The first-class poker room will hold 12 tables and will offer most popular poker games, including Texas Hold’em. Tournaments in the poker room, as well as additional game formats in the casino are already being planned. The two areas combined will accommodate more than 300 players at once.
