Full Tilt Poker pro Scott Montgomery won Event #36 at the 2010 WorldSeries of Poker*, taking home his first WSOP* bracelet and more thanUS$480,000 in prize money.
The Canadian player first played poker in 2004 while working as anEnglish teacher in Japan. By 2008 he had already made his mark on theinternational tournament circuit, placing fifth in the World Poker TourUS$9,900 LA Poker Classic for over US$290K. His amazing run continued andthat same year, Montgomery made it to the final table of the WSOP Main Eventas a part of the inaugural November Nine. He eventually finished in fifthplace, adding a massive US$3 million to his tournament earnings.
Now, Montgomery has achieved every poker player's dream and won a covetedWSOP bracelet. He bested a field of 3102 players to win Event #36, a US$1,000No-Limit Hold 'em tournament, which attracted many of the biggest names inpoker.
Despite entering the final day with the second-shortest stack,Montgomery's aggressive playing style soon saw him battle his way to the top.The field eventually played down to Montgomery and Mick Carlson. Montgomerydominated the heads-up play and gained an incredible chip lead. In the finalhand, Carlson pushed all in with K-2 from the small blind for 825,000 chips,and Scott Montgomery called with A-7. Carlson's hand failed to improve andMontgomery emerged victorious.
Montgomery's win earned him his first bracelet and a first prize ofUS$481, 760, bringing his total career tournament earnings to over US$4million.
