Gaming Commission bans Kansas City man from Missouri casinos

As reported by: News Tribune
Carl "Tuffy" DeLuna, who served 12 years in prison on convictions related to mob skimming of gambling profits from Las Vegas casinos, has been banned from casinos in Missouri.
DeLuna has 30 days to appeal the action taken Wednesday by the Missouri Gaming Commission.
DeLuna, 77, was released from federal prison in 1998, and commission investigators said he has frequented Kansas City area casinos since then.
Kevin Mullally, the commission's director, said DeLuna's gambling came to the commission's attention and that a check of player-tracking records at the casinos confirmed it.
DeLuna is the eighth person banned from Missouri casinos, and the first since 1997. His brother, Frank, convicted of a gambling offense in 1982, is also on the list.
Carl DeLuna was among defendants from Kansas City, Chicago, Milwaukee and Cleveland at a trial in Kansas City involving Las Vegas casino skimming in the 1970s and 1980s. At that trial, the government listed DeLuna as being one of the top leaders of Kansas City's organized crime operations.
In other action Wednesday, the commission eased several state regulations for charitable bingo game operators and agreed to study some others.
On Tuesday, the Tourism Committee of the Missouri House rejected a bill to allow multi-hall bingo games linked statewide by satellite broadcasts, which supporters said would draw more players because of much larger daily jackpots.
