Jamie Gold Wins 2006 WSOP Main Event, the Bracelet and $12,000,000

Jamie Gold, who is sponsored by Bodog poker, started the day as chip leader with $25,650,000 beat 8,773 entrants and won the event which started back on July 28th. The final table containing 9 players was played at the Amazon Room, Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada and offered total prize money of $82,466,200.

The day started with 9 players, here are there chip counts:

The final table was reduced down to two players on level 36 with the Blinds at $200,000/$400,000 Michael Binger raises $1.5 million and both Paul Wasicka and Jamie Gold call. The flop comes 10-6-5. Michael Binger bets $3.5 million and Gold moves all-in. Wasicka folds and Binger calls. Gold shows 4-3 and Binger A-10. The turn is 7 and the river Q. This gives Gold a 3 to 7 straight and nocks out Binger in 3rd place.

Binger earns $4,1223,310.

The scene is set as the 2006 WSOP Main Event goes into heads up, Jamie Gold V Paul Wasicka.

The crunch came on hand 236 with both players limping in pre-flop and the flop coming Q-8-5. Paul Wasicka bets $1.5 million and Jamie Gold moves all-in. Wasicka calls and shows 10-10. Gold shows Q-9 for a pair of Queens. The turn comes A the river 4.

Paul Wasicka is eliminated from the tournament in 2nd place and earns $6,102,499.

Jamie Gold wins the $10,000 Main Event, the bracelet and $12,000,000.

Jamie Gold, from Malibu, California, has been taking tips from the legendary Johnny Chan. Johnny Chan is one of two living poker players ever to have won back-to-back World Series of Poker championships. He also is tied with Doyle Brunson and Phil Hellmuth for having a record 10 WSOP bracelets.
