MPs looking at quiz TV 'rip-offs'

MPs have been told that some TV quiz shows "rip off" viewers by charging as much as 75p for phone calls even if customers do not get through.
The Commons culture committee is looking at whether more regulation of the industry is needed.

MPs heard some shows enticed viewers to call in with easy questions for big prizes, without making clear only one in 200 calls get through.

City of London Police are involved in an on-going fraud probe, the MPs heard.

Phone regulator ICSTIS, the Gambling Commission and the broadcast regulator Ofcom are already looking at the issue.
