Ohio Lottery Sales Jump With New Vendor
| 03 July 2009 |
COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- INTRALOT, the new vendor for the Ohio Lottery went live today with the system conversion involving more than 8,700 terminals in retail locations throughout the state. INTRALOT, with U.S. headquarters based in Duluth, GA, has successfully completed its one-year conversion contract after the company was chosen last June to operate the State's On-Line lottery games. On the first day with the new vendor, on-line sales totaled more than 3 million dollars.
INTRALOT has invested more than $90 million in the state in infrastructure and new technology, and has provided more than 200 permanent and interim jobs to Ohio in systems, administrative services, marketing, operations, equipment and its hot line center.
"We are excited to be up and running in Ohio and are pleased with the conversion results," said Tom Little, CEO, INTRALOT USA.
"We are pleased to bring state-of-the-art, cost efficient technology to the Ohio Lottery, and are very proud of the great effort that our employees and our partner, the Ohio Lottery, have made to create the success we achieved," said Little.
In the last year, the company purchased a production facility in Mason, where it is assembling the new Winstation vending machines for lottery tickets and has leased 80,000 square feet in Strongsville to house its operations and handle the complex conversion and operations.
INTRALOT competitive contract will save the Ohio Lottery about $20 million per year from the current base price, which will go directly to Ohio public schools.
Since entering the U.S. market at the end of 2002, the company has been awarded major contracts to run lottery operations in nine states. It has gained significant momentum in the U.S. because of its ability to provide exceptional technology and first-class service in a cost-efficient manner. INTRALOT also attributes its competitive advantage and pricing to its lean organizational structure, and the fact that it carries little debt.
The conversion replaced long-time provider GTECH, a subsidiary of Lottomatica in Rome, Italy.
INTRALOT, a public listed company, is the leading supplier of integrated gaming and transaction processing systems, innovative game content and sports betting management, to state-licensed gaming organizations worldwide. Its broad portfolio of products & services, its know-how of Lottery, Betting & Video Lottery operations and its leading-edge technology, give INTRALOT a competitive advantage which contributes directly to customers' efficiency, profitability and growth. With presence in 45 countries, with approximately 5,000 people and revenues of more than $1 billion for 2008, INTRALOT has established its presence on all 5 continents.
