Ohio Man Hits $2.1M Jackpot

Walter Aho attributes his new-found wealth to a higher power.

Aho, 47, of Fowler, Ohio, recently won a $2,143,088 jackpot at Mountaineer Race Track & Gaming Resort in Chester.

Fowler is located near Youngstown, Ohio, which is about two hours north of Wheeling and an hour north of Chester.

“This feels fantastic, and it comes at just the right time in my life,” Aho said. “The higher powers look out after you.”

According to information provided by Mountaineer, Aho won the largest Cashola jackpot ever. The first jackpot won in the game was a $708,558, hit at Lincoln Park in Providence, R.I.

Aho’s fortune could not have come at a better time. The 28-year employee of RMI Titanium in Niles, Ohio, has faced tough financial times. In the past, he has endured a six-month strike and a 14-month lockout. He has a 19-year-old enrolled at Youngstown State University, located near his home town of Fowler.

Aho has the option of receiving his winnings in a lump sum payment or in an annuity that will be paid in 20 payments over a 19-year period.
