PA Lottery: Lehigh County Group Shares $225,000 Cash 5 Jackpot
| 16 July 2010 |
ALLENTOWN, Pa., July 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A group of nine Lehigh County residents won $225,000 from the Pennsylvania Lottery's Cash 5 drawing on April 20.
Lottery Area Manager Craig Rogan today presented a ceremonial check to the group at Deli Mart on Tilghman Street in Allentown, where the ticket was purchased. The store will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
One of the group's tickets from the April 20 drawing correctly matched all five numbers drawn, 14-26-29-38-41, to win a $225,000 jackpot.
The following winners are sharing the prize:
"Over the years, I've had people come and go, but even when there weren't enough players to fill the 10 slots, I increased my donation for an extra slot or two, so there were always 10 members, which is what happened this time," said Kuhns, who will receive two shares of the winnings.
Kuhns, who is married and has a daughter, plans to continue to play Cash 5.
"Even though 'Marty's Schnecksville 10' has been successful in winning large prizes in the past, I'm 67 years old and have been laid-off twice; so I'm planning to continue to play, and I hope the group will continue as well," Kuhns said.
How to play Cash 5: To play Cash 5, players pay $1 and select five of 43 numbers. Players may select their own numbers using a Cash 5 play slip, or they may opt for a computer-selected quick pick. Players must match all five numbers drawn to win the jackpot. The starting jackpot is $125,000 and grows until it is won. The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1-in-962,598; overall odds of winning a Cash 5 prize are 1-in-10.51. Cash 5 is the longest-running jackpot game in Pennsylvania Lottery history. Cash 5 tickets first went on sale April 23, 1992.
