The Western Australian Government says poker machines will not be introduced to Burswood Casino, despite its imminent takeover by the Packer family's Publishing and Broadcasting Limited (PBL).

PBL has secured more than 90 per cent of Burswood's issued shares.

Burswood shareholders will receive $1.30 cash per share, with an additional six cents.

The deal was conditional on PBL receiving more than 90 per cent acceptance.

Premier Geoff Gallop says the Government has a clear policy against the introduction of poker machines.

He says all the major parties must stick together to preserve the state's no-pokies policy.
