Winning Tickets Sold in Sullivan, Allegheny, Cumberland Counties

MIDDLETOWN, Pa., May 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Two jackpot-winning Cash 5 tickets split a jackpot of $754,704 from the May 4 drawing, and another Cash 5 ticket worth $225,000 was sold for the May 6 drawing.

The jackpot-winning tickets from the May 4 drawing, which matched all five balls, 03-06-20-32-40, to each win $377,352 less federal withholding, were sold at the following locations:

-- Bowers Endless Mountains Market, 1205 Route 220, Muncy Valley, Sullivan County; and -- Smoker Friendly, 906 Fifth Ave., Pittsburgh, Allegheny County.
The jackpot-winning ticket from the May 6 drawing, which matched all five balls, 02-13-16-35-43, to win $225,000 less federal withholding, was sold at Giant Food Store, 255 S. Spring Garden St., Carlisle, Cumberland County.

Each of the three retailers will receive a $500 bonus for selling a winning ticket.

Lottery officials cannot confirm the identities of the winners until the prizes are claimed and the tickets are validated. Cash 5 winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

The Lottery encourages each holder of a winning ticket to sign the back of the ticket, call the Lottery at 717-702-8146 and file a claim at Lottery headquarters in Middletown, Dauphin County, or at any of Lottery's seven area offices.

Claims may be filed at headquarters Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at area offices.

In the 2010-11 fiscal year, in addition to awarding $1 million, $214.5 million and $34 million in prizes to Sullivan, Allegheny and Cumberland county winners, respectively, the Pennsylvania Lottery contributed more than $1 million to programs that benefited older residents of Sullivan County, nearly $123.6 million to programs serving Allegheny County's older residents and more than $13.8 million to programs serving Cumberland County's older residents.

How to play Cash 5: To play Cash 5, players pay $1 and select five numbers from 1 to 43. Players may select their own numbers using a Cash 5 playslip, or they may opt for computer-selected quick picks. Players must match all five numbers drawn to win the jackpot. Players also win prizes for matching two, three or four winning numbers. Cash 5 drawings are held seven nights a week, and tickets can be purchased up to seven draws (one week) in advance. Odds of winning the jackpot prize are 1-in-962,598; the overall odds of winning any prize are about 1-in-10.5.

About the Pennsylvania Lottery: The Pennsylvania Lottery remains the only state lottery that designates all its proceeds to programs that benefit older residents. Since its inception in 1971, the Pennsylvania Lottery has contributed nearly $21.5 billion to programs that include property tax and rent rebates; free transit and reduced-fare shared rides; the low-cost prescription drug programs PACE and PACENET; long-term living services; and the 52 Area Agencies on Aging, including full- and part-time senior centers throughout the state. The Pennsylvania Lottery reminds its players to play responsibly. Players must be 18 or older.
