PokerNews.com has just entered into a partnership with the National Poker League (NPL) (http://www.nplworldpoker.com) to film and broadcast the upcoming PokerNews Cup (http://www.pokernewscup.com/), which will take place from October 21-29, 2007 at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia.

The NPL will be filming five one-hour episodes from the PokerNews Cup, which will air in mid-December 2007 to over half a billion households worldwide through such networks as MOJO HD (Time Warner, Comcast, Cox Communications and Cablevision), the WGN Superstation Cable Network, and CBS Stations Group via syndication in the U.S., plus TF1 in France (Eurosport France, Jet Sports and TMC), Sky Italia in Italy, EuroSport in the UK, Spain and Poland, and many more.

The PokerNews Cup features six championship events, culminating in the three-day AUD$3,000 buy-in Main Event. The PokerNews Cup Main Event is expected to draw a large international field and generate a prizepool well in excess of $1M. The NPL will film all three days of the Main Event, with a feature table surrounded by audience seating to be constructed on the floor of the Crown Poker Room.

"We are thrilled to partner with the NPL to bring the PokerNews Cup to television," stated Gareth Edwards, Marketing Director, PokerNews Limited. "It is very exciting to able to launch the PokerNews Cup in such a great facility, and with worldwide TV distribution. We believe the PokerNews Cup Australia will be a great event and hope this will be a sign of things to come."

The NPL will also film the PokerNews Australian Bad Boys of Poker Invitational - a AUD$10,000 single-table tournament featuring some of Australia's most well-known and vocal players. The lineup at present features 2005 World Series of Poker Champion Joe Hachem, reigning WPT Bad Boy of Poker Antanas "Tony G" Guoga, WSOP bracelet winners Jeff Lisandro, Mark Vos and Gary Benson, 2006 EPT London runner-up Emad Tahtouh, plus local high-stakes players Billy "The Croc" Argyros, Arul Thillai, Sam Khouiss and David Saab.

The PokerNews Cup is the first live tournament to be hosted by PokerNews.com. Over 100 poker players from around the world will be participating in the PokerNews Cup for free via exclusive PokerNews freerolls, with over $500,000 in prizes to be given away throughout the promotion which extends to early October.
