Team Full Tilt's Phil Ivey has once again made poker history by winningEvent #37 at the 2010 World Series of Poker*. Ivey takes home his eighthWSOP* bracelet and a payday of more than $320K in prize money, boosting hiscareer tournament earnings to over $13.1 million.
This victory moves Ivey into fourth position on the All Time BraceletsList, level with Johnny Moss and fellow Team Full Tilt member Erik Seidel.Ivey is the youngest player ever to win eight bracelets and no player hasaccumulated this many bracelets so quickly. He's also number one on the AllTime Money List - a position which has been strengthened by this latestvictory.
One of the most revered poker professionals of all time, Ivey hasdominated the World Series of Poker* starting with a first-place finish inthe $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event in 2000 at the age of 23. Since his WSOPdebut, Ivey has won seven more bracelets, cashed numerous times and made the2009 Main Event final table, where he added more than $1.4 million to hisearnings.
Event #37 was the $3,000 HORSE event which attracted a field of 478entrants, including some of the world's best mixed-game players and braceletwinners. When play reached Day 3, there was a formidable set of opponents tobeat. As the field pared down to just 16 players, Ivey was the short-stack,but by the time the final table was formed, he had fought his way to secondin chips. Fellow Team Full Tilt member John Juanda was also at the finaltable, eventually finishing in 3rd position.
Ivey was looking strong as he entered heads-up play against Bill Chen.His opponent put up a brave battle but Ivey emerged victorious during a roundof Razz. On the final hand, Chen committed all of his chips on fifth streetwith a made 7-6 low hand, while Ivey was in the lead with a made 6-5 low.Chen's hand failed to improve and Ivey won the title, taking home his eighthbracelet and the $329,840 prize money.
