Tetbury Town Youth Football Club and Stanno Team Wear Help Underprivileged Children to Improve Their Game
| 14 June 2007 |
When Tetbury Town Youth Football Club, based in Gloucestershire, recently renewed all their Stanno football strips, with the latest Stanno kits, they decided to gift their old strips to a group of underprivileged children in South Africa. Little did they know the wonderful effect it was going to have.
Before long, lots of the children from the Stellenbosch Usiko Youth Development Project in South Africa started writing to the Tetbury Youth Football Club, thanking them so much for donating their old Stanno strips. They even started sending photos of themselves wearing them. The story soon caught on in their home town.
Wayne Hillman, Vice Chairman of Tetbury Town Youth committee, said, "We didn't realise what a fantastic effect our donation was going to make on the youngsters lives. The Children are so happy and proud to be playing in their very own co-ordinated team kits. It looks like this gift has really boosted their self-esteem and greatly added to their footballing enjoyment. Even to the point that the local press caught the story and took pictures of the children in their new team strips. Then the letters of thanks and photos came pouring in to our office. We are so glad we did this."
Gabriel Rhoda, Programme co-ordinator or the South African Project, said, "We would like to thank Tetbury for their generous sponsorship of soccer kits for our youth development programmes. As a non-profit organization, the aim of our Usiko project is to provide support structures and activities to young people in Stellenbosch, through the recruitment and training of adult volunteers who act as mentors for these young people. We use sport and other experiential learning activities to assist the youth in an individual, group and family therapeutic context and these soccer kits have really been appreciated by the children."
Wayne went on to say, "We've always ordered our kits from www.clublinefootball.com and have always insisted on buying Stanno. The choice of the Stanno quality and added durability has become even more self-evident with their continued use by the South African children. I'm sure they'll get plenty more wear out of them yet. We'll certainly be considering doing the same again next time we renew our team strips."
Clubline's General Sales Manager - Nick Palmer said, "We were so delighted to hear of this touching and moving story, especially from Wayne Hillman who has been one of our loyal customers over several years. It's always been a pleasure to serve Tetbury Town Youth Football Club with all their team wear and football equipment needs, and it's great to see their continued use in South Africa. This is testament to the quality of the Stanno team wear garments, which we've been supplying for many years now."
Vanessa Bayley, Sales Office Supervisor, said: "All the sale team at Clubline Football were so pleased to hear this moving story. It's certainly something we'd like to hear more of."
