Pacific Poker (www.pacificpoker.com) always sponsors the biggest and the best poker tournaments and the upcoming 888.com UK Open (www.pacificpokerukopen.com) is no exception.

Mike Herea, Promotions Department Manager for Pacific Poker, can't wait for the 888.com UK Open, which commences on October 11, to start.

"After the World Series of Poker, the 888.com UK Open promises to be the biggest poker tournament of 2005. Last year's Open was fantastic and this one promises to be even better," Herea said. "And just like the World Series of Poker, online poker players can claim their seat via online qualifying tournaments."

Qualifying is about to begin but, unfortunately, registration for the tournament has just closed for anyone who wanted to enter.

The winners of the qualifying tournaments will receive $12,500. This money includes $10,000 for the entry fee and $2,500 for travel and accommodation expenses.

"We have online players from all over the world so it is only fair that we cover theexpenses of getting them to London," Herea said.

The 888.com (www.888.com) UK Open, which is Europe's richest televised poker tournament, represents the chance of a lifetime for any aspiring poker player.

Only 108 lucky players will qualify for the exclusive event. They will be divided into 18 tables of six with the 18 table winners each receiving $10,000 and, more importantly, progressing to the semi-finals. They will then be divided into three tables of six, with the top two making it through to the final.

"The tournament is going to be televised so this is a great opportunity for unknown poker players to make a name for themselves," Herea said.

Pacific Poker has already given away $8 million in prize money in 2005 and has plenty more to hand out.

A lot of that money has been won by players who didn't know a thing about poker at the beginning of the year.
