Laughlin

Laughlin is a small city in Clark County, Nevada. Home to Las Vegas, Nevada is known for gambling and its never ending display of bright lights. Laughlin is the third-most visited casino and resort location in the state behind Las Vegas and Reno, and is the number one destination for American RV (recreational vehicle) enthusiasts.

Laughlin is often advertized as the anti-Vegas. It has a more family-friendly appeal, and puts a greater emphasis on outdoor and family activities as opposed to the glitz and adult entertainment found in Vegas or Reno. Many of the casinos that line the Colorado River are linked by an unofficial pedestrian walkway, known as the Laughlin Riverwalk.

The family atmosphere of Laughlin makes it an ideal place for families to vacation. For adults who still want to experience the casino-life, all of the games are the same. The only difference is really the adult-oriented material that Laughlin lacks.

Laughlin is home to a few popular annual events. Beginning in 2001, the Tropicana Express Hotel and Casino played hose for the Talent Quest National Finals. This contest is held during the third week of September, where singers compete for the top prize in the male and female categories.

Laughlin is also famous for its New Year’s celebrations. These celebrations tend to be chaotic due to the influx of visitors coming from the Mountain Time Zone into the Pacific Time Zone, thus experiencing two separate New Year’s. The Laughlin River Run started in 1983 and is now billed as the West Coast’s Largest Motorcycle Event on the Banks of the Colorado River.

Some of the finest casinos in Laughlin are the Flamingo Hilton, Golden Nugget, Harrah’s, Edgewater, and Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort.
