Reno: The Biggest Little City in the World. For years that’s been the city’s nickname. And with all the lush excess to indulge in, it’s no mystery why the name has stuck all of these years. You can hike by day and then surf the casinos by night. And by 1868, the town seemed ripe and ready to explode with wealth, however, when the gold ran thin a few years later, Reno turned to gambling to be its life-force.
There are plenty of sights to see in Reno. Visitors of the world’s biggest little city can visit the Circus Circus theme park, observe the universe at the Fleischmann Planetarium, or see history up close and personal at one of three museums: Liberty Belle Saloon, National Automobile Museum, and the Nevada Historical Society Museum. Reno has a bursting calendar of special events, including the Reno Rodeo, which is one of the country’s largest events.
At the end of August, the Nevada State Fair begins. And many more events are scheduled throughout the year, for all seasons.
But, just like with Las Vegas, most are going to Reno to indulge in the casinos. Some of the best Reno has to offer are the Silver Legacy, Circus Circus, Peppermill, Atlantis, Sands Regency, Harrah’s, and the Club Cal Neva Virginian.
